Daou Vineyards is a family-owned business in Paso Robles, California. Brothers Georges and Daniel Daou have always been inseparable. After the Daou family moved from Lebanon to France, the boys came into contact with wine, and slowly started dreaming about setting up their own winery.
This dream became reality when the brothers moved to America for their so-called American dream. In order to fulfill this dream, money had to be earned first. They did this by founding Daou Systems in the computer engineering industry. After the sale of the company, they bought an estate, and Daou Vineyards was born!
The vineyards are located on a hilltop with a unique soil composition. The soil consists mainly of calcareous clay, which is perfect for Cabernet Sauvignon. The hilltop is 650 meters above sea level. This provides a magnificent view of the Central Coast of California. The steepness is sometimes as much as 55%. The heat is tempered by a cool breeze from the sea. The warm days and cool nights guarantee an even ripening of the bunches every year. The plantation covers 86 hectares and consists mainly of Cabernet Sauvignon, but Pinot Noir, Sauvignon Blanc and Zinfandel can also be found in the vineyards of Daou.
French wooden barrels are used for the vinification of the red wines. The aging time varies per vintage and per wine. The wines of the Daou brothers are elegant, with a full body and intense fruit aromas. George and Daniel make absolute top quality wines! The winery's showpieces are Estate Mayote, Estate Soul of a Lion, Estate Cabernet Sauvignon and Patrimony.
