Pouilly-Loché

Pouilly-Loché is a small appellation in the Mâconnais and well known for its refined and expressive white wines for a fair price. It is situated near the better-known Pouilly-Fuissé, and alike his bigger brother benefits from a terroir of limestone and clay soils.

Viticulture in Pouilly-Loché dates back to Roman times, though it was the monks of Cluny in the Middle Ages who really established the region’s winemaking identity. Over centuries, the vineyards of Pouilly-Loché have maintained a reputation for producing wines of beautiful purity, characterized by their mineral-driven profiles and nuanced fruit expressions. Bright citrus, white flower aromas, notes of stone fruit, almonds, and a fine minerality are real Pouilly-Loché flavor elements .

Despite being a lesser-known appellation, Pouilly-Loché consistently produces wines that rival those of its more famous neighbors.
