Because of less morning sunshine on the northeast-facing slope, Griotte-Chambertin ripens more slowly. The soils are a mixture of clay limestone, gravel and brown earth. Supplying well-drained conditions that improve the aroma and balance of the wine. Because of the small area and distinctive terroir, the vineyard produces wines that are limited, trustworthy and well-liked.
