The history of Rully wines
Rully has a rich history, including the Dukes of Burgundy and Saint-Benigne Abbey. The town boasts a chateau owned by the same family for six centuries. According to folklore, the name "Rully" originates from Rubilius, a Roman who built a villa in the area. The commune no longer has a cooperative, thus wine must be sourced directly from domains, cooperatives in southern Cote Chalonnaise, or La Maison des Vins in Chalon-sur-Saone.
