Robert Parker (95)

I'd wager one of the finest examples of this cuvee ever made (the 2009 and 2010 will give it run for its money), the sensational 2007 Chateauneuf du Pape Cuvee les Origines from the Jaume family is a perfect example of a modern styled Chateauneuf du Pape that never loses its Southern Rhone soul. Made from 50% Grenache, 30% Mourvedre and 20% Syrah that was aged in equal parts barrels and tanks, it offers a ripe, pedal-to-the-metal bouquet of ripe black fruits, charred meats, pan drippings, saddle leather and garrigue that continues to open up with time in the glass. On the palate, it's full-bodied, beautifully concentrated and layered, with sweet, sweet tannin and a great finish. This closed down shortly after release but is just now staring to show its true potential.

Winespectator (92)

Solid, with a mix of red and black currant fruit held together with notes of pastis, licorice and violet. A good dash of grip on the finish keeps this honest. Opens nicely in the glass.
