Organically certified wine. They have 0.2 ha of 24-year-old vines.
Mid cherry red. Subtle, inviting, lightly spiced dark-red fruits. With air, almost floral. Refined, dry tannins. Lightish but none the worse for that because it has excellent persistence of pure fruit, plus the elegant texture of tannins that are quite definite in giving structure to the wine but extremely fine-grained. The finish is dry and it has good harmony but it's not in the least a showy wine. Sensitive winemaking, relatively light for a 2018 – but better that than overripe. (JH)
Only 2 barrels (one new) now they have tamed the vineyards. Rich imperial purple. The oak marks the wine a bit at the moment but this will be useful because there is such a wealth of sumptuous dark fruit, even some blackberry, though it doesn’t seem over-ripe to me. This was picked quite early and certainly has a fresher finish. Excellent stuffing.
