Formerly known as Domaine Robert Arnoux (until 2007), this is a significant 14.5 Ha property, located in Vosne-Romanée. Founded by Charles Arnoux and his wife Renée Salbreux, their son Robert took over the estate in 1957.
Thirty years later, in 1987, his daughter Florence and her husband Pascal Lachaux began to work with him. In 1995, Robert Arnoux unfortunately passed away and Pascal Lachaux was in charge of the domaine until recently. Consequently, the name of the domaine has been changed to Domaine Arnoux – Lachaux to indicate the current owner.
In 2012, Pascal’s son Charles Lachaux was introduced to the business and became the leading manager. The domaine is now a source of exceptional wines vinified in a modern style. All the grapes are destemmed and depending on the wine, they are aged in new wood up to 100% for the Grands Crus.
The domaine owns plots in various top sites, such as “Romanée St.-Vivant Grand Cru” (0.35 Ha), “Echézeaux Grand Cru” (0.80 Ha), “Clos de Vougeot Grand Cru” (0.45 Ha) and “Latricières-Chambertin Grand Cru” (0.53 Ha), as well as parts of 1er Cru vineyards in Vosne-Romanée (“Les Suchots” – 0.43 ha, “Aux Reignots” – 0.20 Ha and “Chaumes” – 0.74 Ha) and Nuits-St.-Georges (“Les Procès” – 0.70 Ha and “Corvées Pagets” – 0.55 Ha) and various Village plots.
The average age of the vines is 50+ years, with the oldest vines planted in “Clos des Corvées Pagets”, dating back to 1921. The domaine primarily uses Pinot Noir grapes for their wines, but they also produce a small amount of Bourgogne Aligoté (white).
Top recent vintages from this domaine are: 2002, 2005, 2009, 2010, 2012 and 2015 and those wines are able to age for many years if not decades.
