Offering up aromas of pear, mint and sweet citrus fruit, along with some traces of its recently completed malolactic fermentation, the 2021 Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru Morgeot is medium to full-bodied, ample and fleshy, with a textural attack and layered core of fruit.
Once again firm reduction knocks down the nose to the point that nothing is discernible. More interesting are the beautifully textured, concentrated and highly seductively middleweight plus flavors that deliver excellent persistence on the bone-dry, youthfully austere and serious finale. This is excellent but at least some patience will be necessary and ultimately, it should reward up to a decade of keeping.
