A discreet application of wood sets off the slightly riper aromas of poached plum, anise, black raspberry and more prominent earth influence. The richer and more concentrated bigger-bodied flavors flash a taut muscularity on the lingering finish that is supported by surprisingly fine-grained tannins on the balanced and equally austere finale. Good stuff that is also worthy of your consideration.
The fruit is clearly ripe but less exaggerated than the Pommard Perrières. Concentrated dark purple. Deep raspberry with some lush strawberry notes, very sensual, neither the same heat nor tannins, and very good length. This will develop into an extremely fine Pommard.
