Introducing a superb 10-year-old malt, first matured in ex-Bourbon American oak casks before undergoing additional maturation in casks made from Chinquapin oak (Quercus Muehlenbergii), native to the Northern Ozark region. region in Missouri for about 18 months. The casks were air dried for almost four years, then roasted to medium level before the whisky was aged in this unique wood.
The result is a complex whisky with lots of citrus notes, bursting with honey, sweet cinnamon and orange zest. The whiskey is bottled at 48% and as we are used to from The GlenAllachie, the whisky has not been colored and it has not been cold filtered.
Tasting Notes:
Color: Rich bronze
Nose: Brimming with orange zest, heather honey and pecans, with notes of butterscotch, nutmeg and licorice.
Palate: Hints of cinnamon, malt sugar and toasted biscuits, followed by rose hips, orange zest and heather honey.
Finish: Long, warming and lingering honey.
