Nose
Ahhh, the depth of sherry—a cathedral of Christmas cake, black cherry, and raisins. Leather-bound tomes, wet coal, and dense, Gothic smoke, with oils seeping through the cracks. There’s pine resin whispering of forests, black currants, and a ghostly swirl of Glühwein spice—cinnamon flickering faintly in the shadows. Dark fruits and apricots join hands with ripe bananas and a delicate touch of vanilla. Breathtaking complexity.
Taste
An absolute heavyweight—this whisky plants itself firmly in the center of your palate, refusing to budge. Sweetness rolls in waves, but always held in check. Spiced, wild fruits collide with bitter barks and a hint of Antica formula vermouth. Plums and liquorice emerge, alongside earthy coals and forest fruits, like biting into nature itself. There’s a silky interplay of oak and subtle vanilla, with no bitterness to mar its power. Waxy and peppery as it stretches. Magnificent.
Finish
The smoke finally exhales, leaving an almost endless trail—long, warming, and achingly beautiful. Vanilla custard, apricot, and coffee tiptoe in, joined by strawberries and a touch of drying wood. With water, a gentle bitterness fades, revealing layers of spice and depth. A whisper of old-school Glen Grant or Strathisla sherries lingers. Astonishingly complex. A whisky for the ages.
