The Shinshu distillery is located at the highest mountain in the Japanese Alps: Komagatake. This mountain not only gives its name to this single malt, but also the clear spring water that comes from slopes is eagerly used for the distillery. For this 2021 release, the whisky is not only made in Shinshu, the barrels have also matured at an altitude of almost 800 meters above sea level.
Tasting Notes:
Nose: Quince, apricot and banana and full, creamy vanilla.
Taste: Honey and hazelnut from the sherry casks and a soft melon sweetness. The taste is nicely round, sweet, creamy and honey-like.
Finish: A refined finish that is soft, round and elegant.
