The 1949 Rivesaltes has an elegant bouquet with beautiful scents of ripe strawberry, orange zest, burnt toffee and licorice. It shows superb clarity and demonstrates a little more intensity than the 1945. The palate is medium-bodied and feels quite thick in the mouth. Strong licorice aromas form the basis of this Vin Doux Naturel with a slight viscosity on the honeyed, sandalwood-infused finish. This is one of the best offerings at the moment and comes highly recommended.
