The 1948 Rivesaltes from Chateau Prieure du Monastir del Camp has more intensity on the nose compared to the 1948 with prune, fresh dates, camphor and quince - utterly glorious! The palate is very well balanced with superb weight. There is a gentle grip in the mouth, suggesting a little more backbone than the '50, with tangy Seville orange marmalade, cloves, Chinese 5-spice and then it winds down to a gentle finish that urges another sip. Delicious.
