The 2019 The Ironstone Pressings Grenache Shiraz Mourvedre leads with blood, meat and game, raspberry, goji berry, potpourri and berry compote. In the mouth, the wine is full of dark fruit and exotic spice and feels as if it will age very well. It has a breathy finish and is a touch drying at this point as well. 15% alcohol, sealed under screw cap.
Some bottle age has delivered a compact, poised and delicious rendition of the Mediterranean triumvirate, grenache shiraz and mourvèdre. Notes of terra cotta, mocha, oak, mulled Damson plums and five-spice powder. The tannins are well shaped and promote decent length. A little rustic, but not unattractively so. Drink or hold. Screw cap.
