The 2018 Champagne Soliste Meunier Les Gouttes D’Or Extra Brut is from a single parcel on clay and Campanian chalk soils that’s made up exclusively of Meunier vines planted in 1951. A straw-copper hue, it offers pretty Meunier aromas of fresh flowers, white strawberry, fresh orange, and saline broth. Medium-bodied, it opens with an expansive and fluffy mousse that dissipates to a more chalky and pithy texture that lasts for ages after the wine is gone, adding a lively balance of structure that makes this a more gastronomic-styled Champagne. Displaying a lot of character, with good depth of fruit and a rather long, balanced finish, it’s a fabulous offering from the estate and from this abundant vintage. Drink 2023-2030. It was raised sur latte under cork. 2 grams per liter dosage and disgorged December of 2022.
