The year 2024 in Swartland was warm and dry, creating favorable conditions for the Chenin Blanc variety grown on weathered granite soils in the vicinity of Paardeberg. Mullineux's Granite Chenin Blanc 2024 is made from grapes grown on these weathered granite soils, without irrigation and harvested by hand. Fermentation took place using wild yeast, without any additives and without the removal of any components. The result is a Chenin Blanc with pronounced minerality and the tension characteristic of granite. This wine can be enjoyed until 2040.

The Mullineux 2024 Swartland Granite Chenin Blanc is taut, energetic and mineral-driven, with notes of green apple, pear skin and crushed stone carried by striking vertical freshness. Chenin Blanc shows extreme precision here, with deep-rooted vines in sandy granite soils promoting tension and clarity. The Paardeberg’s weathered granite and cooling Atlantic breezes help preserve the wine’s linear structure and vibrant lift.

Lovely aromas of white peaches, lemon and lime peel, apricots, sea shells, nutmeg and hints of cedar. It’s cool and focused with a lovely combination of fruit and fresh minerality. Full-bodied but vertical and elegant, with a very long, saline and textured finish. Drink or hold.

The 2024 Chenin Blanc Granite comes from the decomposed granite soils in the Eikelaan Vineyard and spends 11 months in 225-litre used French oak. This has plenty of energy and focus on the nose, touches of pressed yellow flowers infuse the white fruit, a hint of stem ginger in the background. The palate is very well balanced with a smooth and slightly viscous texture, a fine bead of acidity, immense purity of fruit with an elegant, almost understated finish. Superb.
