The 2010 growing season in Châteauneuf-du-Pape produced results that many Southern Rhône producers now consider a “benchmark vintage.” Thanks to the cool climate and slow ripening of the fruit, the old vines at Domaine de Marcoux—primarily Grenache—had time to develop greater concentration without losing their freshness. The Mistral wind played an important role in preserving the fruit’s freshness. In the “Marcoux Vieilles Vignes 2010,” this is reflected in its power and well-defined character. The wine has a robust structure and a rich flavor; it is not intended for early consumption but is designed for long-term aging.
