The vineyards of Bodegas Felix Callejo are situated in Sotillo de la Ribera village on the northern periphery of the Duero river basin, benefitting from its high altitude (around 900 meter above sealevel). The terrain showcases moorlands with limestone soils at higher altitudes, transitioning to gravel soils of old riverbeds, sandy areas in the pine groves, and clay in the lower areas.
The winery comprises 27 vineyards scattered with a diversity of soils, altitudes, and orientations across a total area of 54.8 hectares. Careful winery management, along with this diversity, allows the Bodegas to express the terroir through various grape varieties such as Tinto Fino, Garnacha, Albillo Mayor, and Merlot.
The aim of Bodegas Felix Callejo is to showcase its unique terroir, landscape, and distinct locations through the wines. It employs a gravity-based process and the natural yeasts present in the grape skin. The Bodegas follows organic farming since 2000.
The vintages of the cuvee Viñedos de la Familia are rated in the 92+ points by Robert Parker and James Suckling.
