From 90% estate fruit (and the rest from extended family holdings) in Hunawihr, Ribeauville and Bergheim, the Trimbach 2011 Riesling Reserve projects juicy apple laced with lemon rind and suffused with chalk and alkali, the latter joined by struck-flint and sage pungency in the attention-getting and in a positive sense reductive nose. The palate pungency of green herbs and citrus zest makes for enormous invigoration, allied to persistent juiciness and a finish of focus and grip.
This vintage is already sold out from the cellar. Mostly Ribeauvillé fruit from older vines grown on limestone.
Real crackle to this wine. I think the 2010 was being sold in the UK for quite a bit less than this… but it's very good wine.
