The online voting session allowed the fans of the brand across 37 different countries to take part in the creation of a new ‘The Glenlivet’ limited edition. The fans had the chance to savour three single malts crafted by Alan Winchester, Distilling Manager, and they chose the one called “Exotic” over the “Classic” and “Revival” ones. “Exotic” will become in March “The Guardians’ Chapter” single malt, named after the fans who took a significant part in the voting.To inspire the fans, The Glenlivet Guardians website carried additional content around three themes: “Exotic”, “Revival” and “Classic“. Each of them was enriched with content dialing to the interests of the fans: travels, cars, gastronomy or even architecture has been mentioned.“This is an opportunity to savour a unique, limited edition, single malt that’s already admired and desired by thousands of whisky lovers. Our Guardians have written a new chapter in the distillery’s distinguished history, this will be their legacy.” declared Alan Winchester, Distilling Manager.The winning “exotic” single malt was created using a mixture of casks including oak barrels with the addition of whisky from ex-sherry butts. The resulting “The Guardians’ Chapter” bottling will display fruity notes and an addition of spicy notes. The single malt will be bottled and distributed in limited quantities globally from March 2014.
