In May, the Campbeltown Malt Festival takes place. Especially for this occasion, Glen Scotia has bottled a Limited Edition. It is a lightly peated, 11-year-old whisky with a White Port Cask Finish.
When you say Campbeltown, you say whisky. As you walk through the streets of the town, you'll see something that reminds you of the rich whisky history of this historic harbor town on the west coast of Scotland almost at every corner.

Not every whisky enthusiast has the opportunity to travel to the Glen Scotia distillery to buy this bottling on-site. But fortunately, this Limited Edition is available in the Netherlands. This delightful 11-year-old single malt takes you to the special atmosphere of this annual whisky festival with every sip and can now be ordered through this subscription.

The whisky was distilled over 11 years ago in the cozy distillery. The lightly peated spirit has been finished in white port casks for twelve months. The whisky is bottled at cask strength of 54.7%. It is non-chill filtered and has not been artificially colored.

Tasting Notes:
After a 12-month finish in white port casks, this 11-year-old lightly peated single malt is filled with spicy notes of orchard fruits (such as apples, pears, and plums), intertwined with the characteristic light peat and the typical Campbeltown salty character.

Peated White Port Cask Finish? Are they mad? They say it's a 'whisky experiment', but really, I don't know any other business where they sell their experiments like this. Generally, this kind of thing stays in the labs; they don't push it onto the public. Unless it's a great success... Colour: pale gold. Nose: ginger, zest, and lemon. With water: same, but with more ashes. Mouth (neat): it's sweet at the beginning but mainly very spicy, with a maximum impact from the cask. A lot of ginger, turmeric, cardamom, lemon liqueur, pepper, ashes... I find it a little suffocating, to be honest. A little too much. With water: a bit better, the water lightens everything but it remains thick, a little saturated. Finish: long, woody, spicy. Comments: I won't deny that it's well done technologically, even very well done, but it's completely driven by the cask. Ultra-techno.
