At a dinner party in Bordeaux in 1989, I was astonished by the superb 1947. From a private cellar in that city, it was remarkably concentrated, rich, and expansively flavored, and admirably demonstrated why Grand-Puy-Lacoste was so highly regarded in the post-World War II vintages.
