The gorgeous universal wine glass by Rene Gabriel

The gorgeous universal wine glass by Rene Gabriel

This probably sounds familiar; a different wine glass for every type of wine, grape or region. That is of course all well and good, but it is also expensive, and having a different glass for each wine takes up a lot of space in the (display) cabinet. Gabriel Glas has come up with a solution: a universal wine glass.

One for All

René Gabriel's universal glasses are available in two editions: StandArt Edition and Gold Edition. Both editions are made of lead-free crystal. The StandArt Edition glasses are blown by machine, which is why this glass has a slightly thicker edge and is slightly heavier than the Gold Edition. It also makes the glass a bit sturdier. This is perfect for when you would like to let your guests drink wine from good glasses, but when you are wary of the perils of very thin glasses.

The Gold Edition, on the other hand, is mouth blown and therefore a lot thinner than its big brother. This difference becomes clear by weighing the glasses: 90 vs. 150 grams. The glasses are seamless, elegant and made with attention to detail. The glassware ensures that the aromas and the character of the wine are well expressed. For 90% of all wines, this is the right glass! From sparkling wines, powerful reds to sherry. Both glasses offer a fantastic tasting experience. Once you’re used to these glasses, you won't want anything else.

Both types are dishwasher safe and will not break in the machine. Yet, to keep your glassware looking good for longer, we recommend that you clean these glasses by hand. Yes, it does require a little more time and care, but the dishwasher often leaves marks and that would look less attractive, of course.

The glasses are seamless, elegant and made with attention to detail.

About René Gabriel

René Gabriel is an important German-speaking wine journalist. He has written several books, including the Weinbibel and Goldene Nase. In 1986, he ventured into the world of gastronomy and took over the hotel Kreuz in Sempach, Switzerland. In addition, he has long been the purchasing manager and consultant for Mövenpick Wine in Switzerland and Germany. He also founded Académie du Vin, through which he organised personalised tastings and wine tours for wine lovers. Of course, René is a regular guest at Best of Wines, where he provides legendary tastings with absolute top wines from our store. His tasting notes (and reports of these tastings) can be found on the site www.bxtotal.com

During his career in the wine industry, he has tasted tens of thousands of wines. During these tastings, he was often dissatisfied with the glassware that was used because they negatively affected the wine. Therefore, René went in search of the perfect glass. This was more difficult than expected and he eventually found out that what he was looking for didn’t exist. This lead to the decision to produce glassware himself and so the first collection of Gabriel Glas was created with the universal glass for every type of wine and suitable for every wine lover!

Best of Wines proudly imports these beautiful glasses for both private individuals and the higher segment of the catering industry.
