The 2022 Spätburgunder Ahrweiler Silberberg GG is slightly reductive on the nose but also intense and concentrated, with lush dark fruit and toasty spice as well as subtle iodine notes. Full-bodied, juicy and generous yet elegant and with an impressively fine tannin and stimulating acidity complex, this is an intense rather than just powerful Silberberg, and its finish is decidedly long and complex. Tasted at the Vorpremiere VDP.Grosses Gewächs in Wiesbaden in August 2024.
Spicy and smoky, but with a wealth of Damson plum and wild blackberry fruit, this is a bold yet bright and elegant Ahr pinot noir. Impressive structure, the tannins fine-grained and beautifully crafted. Long, spicy, moderately dry finish. Drink or hold.
Flinty/fumy notes of reduction mingle with fresh black fruit on the captivating nose. Mulberry and beach plum, ethereal notes of thyme and rosemary. Silky concentration with an elegant, chalky finesse. The finish feels abrupt, as if someone interrupted the wine halfway through its complex story. Give this one time to sort itself out. (PS)
