This dry riesling has stunning concentration, vibrancy, great herbal freshness and delicate peachy fruit. Hard to say whether this is light- or full-bodied because of the combination of intensity and freshness. But there’s no doubting the abundant energy in the super-long finish. Very limited production. Drinkable now, but best from 2027.

The 2024 Riesling Zeltinger Sonnenuhr GZ, where GZ stands for Grosser Zeltinger in place of GG, is from an exchange project with Peter Griebeler of the Heinrichshof in Zeltingen. A lovely sense of zestiness suggests ripe citrus. The palate is rounder and smooth but bone-dry. Notions of orange peel and peach skin shimmer while stone stands guard. The 2024 forms a delightful combination of naked stone and juiciness. It is beautifully clean-cut. (Bone-dry)

The 2024er Zeltinger Sonnenuhr Riesling “GZ” is a bone-dry wine (with 3 g/l of residual sugar) made from fruity picked on 30-year-old vines on a very steep slope next to the Sonnenuhr. The wine offers a superb nose of prune, grapefruit, carraway, whipped cream, and smoke. It is beautifully precise and elegant on the palate and leaves a stunningly precise and elegant feel in the long and spicy finish. The aftertaste is airy, alluring, and driven by subtle spices.
