The 2024 growing season in the Wachau proved to be challenging for all of Austria. The threat of spring frosts and prolonged rains in the middle of the growing season posed a real challenge for winemakers cultivating grapes on the steep terraces above Unterloiben. At the “Weingut Emmerich Knoll” winery, the bottling of the “Ried Schutt” wine made from the “Grüner Veltliner” grape variety reflects this situation. The grapes were harvested late, once they had reached full ripeness, from the stony vineyards of Schutt and aged using the winery’s traditional methods. Enjoy this white wine from the Wachau, characterized by its richness and pronounced minerality, capable of withstanding long-term aging.
