The 2021 Grain Pinot Charrat from the La Combe Malindzo terroir displays a dark ruby color with garnet reflections and opens with a deep, pure and fresh yet intense bouquet of ripe and concentrated fruits (stewed cherries), graphite, flint stone and hints of licorice, which gives a rather warm impression, actually reminiscent of the French Rhône and also of Grenache. Smooth, elegant and silky on the palate, this is a full-bodied, intense and generous Pinot with concentrated and intense fruit and a very complex, saline and crystalline finish with fine but muscular tannins. This is a powerful wine to be cellared for at least 4 or 5 years. Excellent aging potential. 13.6% stated alcohol. Natural cork. Tasted in Zurich, February 2023.
Elegant, enveloping bouquet with notes of fresh raspberry, redcurrant and sour cherry. In addition, floral hints and a subtle spiciness. Delicate on the palate, with supporting acidity and red fruit as well as spicy components. Good, integrated tannin, long with a mineral finish.
