Wines from Bodegas Toro Albala

Bodegas Toro Albala

In 1844, the family Toro Albala established a small wine cellar named La Noria in an old windmill situated in the hillside of Castillo de Aguilar de la Frontera. Wine was produced in a basic manner and sold in the family cafe.

Bodegas Toro Albalá (appellation of Montilla-Moriles) originated in 1922 when it was established in a 14,000 square meter old power plant with extensive underground tunnels ideal for aging and storing wines. This location still serves as the headquarters where the foundational solerait is one of the largest in Spain, with over 1,000 oak butts used for slow vinegar aging.

In the 1970s Antonio Sánchez focused on distinguishing the winery and developing its personality by implementing the vintage system and producing unique wines. Today, Bodegas Toro Albalá is recognized as one of the 100 Spanish Golden Wineries and is found on the most prominent dining tables worldwide.

Bodegas Toro Albalá is one of the best producers of aged Pedro Ximenez wines. The bodegas releases several wines which may be older as 50+ years of the highest quality. The 1946 Don PX Convento Selección scored 100 Robert Parker points.

The bottles are unique examples of the care that Toro Albala takes in their production: Handmade labelling, numerated and signed bottles and natural sealing with a unique seal of the Toro Albalá symbol which certifies and assures the quality.
