The dark garnet-colored 1997 Brunello di Montalcino's sweet tobacco, red currant, cherry, and herb aromas are followed by an excellent attack, and a medium-bodied, dry, angular finish. Although very good, it is hardly an exceptional effort from this highly praised vintage.

Dark brick red, with an amber edge. Slightly decadent aromas, with very ripe strawberry, game and blackberry. Full-bodied, with soft tannins and a chocolate, blackberry and cherry aftertaste. Very Burgundian.
