The 2022 Altenberg Alte Reben GG starts wonderfully clear on the fine, aromatic nose that is reminiscent of light stone fruit. Fresh and invigorating on the palate, this round, juicy and elegant Riesling has crystalline acidity and a still contracting, slightly drying finish and is undoubtedly built to last! Tasted in Wiesbaden at the Vorpremiere VDP.Grosses Gewächs in August 2023.
What a beautiful nose of Yamanashi white peach and mangosteen this has! As concentrated as it is elegant with a silky texture that must be tasted to be believed. Then comes the wave of slatey minerality at the very long and precise finish.
The 2022 Riesling Kanzemer Altenberg Alte Reben Grosses Gewächs still shows some yeasty funk on the nose and is otherwise reluctant. The palate tingles right away with ripe citrus and a vivid, juicy, pithy mouthfeel imbued with a creaminess that now and then allows a brief glimpse of Mirabelle. Creamy, mellow, tangy, mouth-watering with a salty, long finish. (Bone-dry)
A nose of fresh citrus zest, also smoky, stony, slate savouriness aromas. The palate unfolds with plenty of tension, seems bundled, is densely packed with minerality and fine phenolics, and shows taut acidity. A full-bodied Altenberg for the long haul.
