Robert Parker (93)

Produced from 14 hectoliters per hectare, the 1999 Savigny-Les-Beaune Les Narbantons is an outstanding wine. It displays intricate aromas of roasted blackberries, super-ripe plums, and candied cherries. It has awesome depth and a profound, concentrated, muscular personality. Copious quantities of blackberries, metals, stones, and cassis liqueur-like flavors can be found in this magnificent wine's personality and lush finish.

Absolutely stunning red burgundy kindly provided by Patrick Walsh at a dinner at Brooks in Melbourne. Glowing crimson. Firm bitter cherry fruit. This has wonderful intensity as well as the aromatic flirtatiousness of burgundy. To coin a phrase, a total charmpot. Gorgeous balance and already a delight to drink. Quite powerful. (JR)

Vinous (91)

Good full ruby-red. Slightly reduced but compellingly sweet aromas of black raspberry and leather. Sweet-verging-on-confectionery, with a liqueur-like thickness and terrific concentration. A strong mineral underpinning contributes to the impression of backbone and helps to buffer the wine high alcohol. Very impressive potential.

Burghound (92)

A simply enormous Savigny with cassis and black fruits, incredible concentration, velvet tannins and stunning complexity. The length on this has to be experienced to be believed. While not classical in proportion, this is perhaps the finest example of this vineyard I have ever tasted, as the balance is perfect despite the elevated alcohol level.
