Dark black centre with purple rim. The bouquet is pretty black in its fruit profile too, perhaps a small stage too far. There is considerable weight on the palate, a rich mix of red and black fruit with good acidity but a little bit dry overall.
This is ripe enough that it lacks a bit of freshness (though it's not flat) on the aromas of purple fruit, violet and warm earth. There is fine volume and intensity on the opulent and seductively textured larger-scaled flavors that firm up on the concentrated, serious, powerful and structured finale. The nose may recover as the wine ages, but I have concerns that it could also become flat.
