:
Nose: Rather light with a touch of minerals but mostly gentle fruits (kiwi/banana/apricots), a whiff of honey, warm apple compote and crème caramel. It’s not very expressive or rich.
Taste: The Small Batch DNA is certainly here. Orange liqueur, some apricots, and spicy ginger and white pepper. It’s sweet yet somewhat fruity (nectarine), and more expressive than the nose suggests.
Finish: Lingering spices and bitter grass. Fairly short.
CONCLUSION
Sorry to conclude this, but I wouldn't call the Teeling Riesling Cask Grand Cru Edition an improvement over the 2020 version of Teeling Small Batch that I tried most recently. It's undeniably young and the grain whiskey has a strong foothold on the overall flavour experience.
