The 2011 Echezeaux Grand Cru was very impressive a year ago and it remains one of the domaine’s finest wines of the vintage now. It has a very candied bouquet with aniseed-tinged black and red fruit – quite opulent and more like the Reignots with hints of coffee bean infusing the elegant finish. This is a vivacious grand cru with great structure and fine persistency toward the lightly peppered finish that fans out gloriously, lingering seductively in the mouth. This is one of the finest wines of the 2011
Bright red. Reasonably subtle nose though with some oak in evidence. Good weight and breadth in the mouth. Plus lots of 2011 freshness. Very fine tannins on the finish. Still a little raw but it should all come right in the end.
