Tasted blind at Farr Vintners' blind horizontal tasting, the 2006 Château Certan-Marzelle has a slightly loose-knit bouquet with savoury red berry fruit, black tea, black pepper and cedar. The palate is medium-bodied with fine and quite supple tannin, fresh in the mouth and composed, though it needs more complexity to come through on the finish. Tasted April 2016.
Offers tobacco and berry character, with hints of earth. Medium-bodied, with slightly rustic tannins, but also decent structure. Should mellow with a few years of bottle age.
Rene Gabriel rates this wine 17/20 points.
