Nose:
The moment the glass nears, you're met with that quintessential Glengoyne embrace—a nose that simply sings with elegance and delight. Layers upon layers of ripe peach in syrup, a medley of orange and clementine zest, all kissed by the faintest touch of passion fruit. As it evolves, notes of melting salted butter caramel entwine with a Florentine biscuit dusted in cinnamon and draped in milk chocolate. Noble oak whispers in the background, punctuated by a subtle hint of pepper. An absolute masterclass in balance; the reduction is integrated seamlessly.
Taste:
The years have gifted this dram a touch of OBE, lending it a slight metallic edge, tinges of dust, and that unmistakable old newspaper note. Yet, the dance continues—a delicate fruitiness remains, echoing dragibus, the soft juiciness of plum, the bite of pear skin, and a bitter-sweet touch of grapefruit. The creamy wave of milk chocolate persists, joined by buttery scones, toasted almonds, and a drizzle of light toffee. A whisper of rancio hints at its age and journey.
Finish:
A satisfyingly spicy and oaky departure, where plum jam unfolds alongside the gentle crunch of toasted almonds and a silky ribbon of soft caramel. The finish carries the faintest echo of that OBE, adding a final nod to its well-aged character.
