Wines from Trapet

Trapet

Domaine Trapet Père & Fils (formerly known as Domaine Louis Trapet) is a wine company with estates in two different regions in France: Alsace and Burgundy. Especially the estate in Burgundy is of great historical importance, although it is not as large as it used to be. In 1993, the original domaine was split in half and another domaine was created: Rossignol-Trapet.

Situated in Gevrey-Chambertin, Domaine Trapet Père & Fils is currently managed by Jean-Louis Trapet and has 16 Ha of vines. The most important vineyard holdings in its portfolio are: Le Chambertin Grand Cru (a sizable 1.9 Ha, oldest vines planted in 1919), Latricières-Chambertin Grand Cru (0.75 Ha, divided in 3 parcels with the oldest vines planted in 1938) and Chapelle-Chambertin Grand Cru (0.6 Ha, oldest vines plated in 1945). The domaine also owns vineyard parcels in multiple Premier Crus in Gevrey-Chambertin. Most of their vineyards are planted with Pinot Noir vines, but there are also some Chardonnay vines planted in Marsannay, which produces an excellent Marsannay Blanc.

All the vineyards are farmed using biodynamic viticulture. Jean-Louis Trapet produces his wines in a very approachable style, refined, intense, concentrated and with respect for terroir. The top wines are however capable of aging for a long time and they receive very good reviews from the international wine critics, including some perfect scores for certain vintages.

The best vintages for the Grands Crus are: 1985, 1990, 1999, 2001, 2002, 2005, 2009, 2010, 2012, 2014 and 2015.
