The 1933 Rivesaltes is made from 60-65% Grenache Noir with the remainder Macabeu and Grenache Blanc. It has a lucid tawny color. The nose has a touch of furniture polish and quince, a little like a Fino sherry, while the palate is better, with candied orange peel and cough candy. It finishes with style, although it makes you want a little more on the nose. This is cut from a similar cloth as the 1931 that I tasted last year. It is a very good Rivesaltes, but it does not make your hairs stand up on end.
