La Solitude's 1990 signals a partial return of this famous domaine to the forefront of Chateauneuf du Pape's finest producers. Displaying an opaque black/ruby/purple color, an impressive vanillin, black-cherry, and cassis-scented nose, and rich, robust, herblike flavors, this big, untraditional style of wine was aged in small oak casks. It should drink well for 10-15 years. This is the finest La Solitude since the fabulous 1964 and 1967.
Soft and generous, with fleshy plum, spice, tobacco and currant flavors and elegant earth shadings. Finishes long and smooth, with lush but firm tannins.
