Robert Parker (96)

The 2019 Ruchottes-Chambertin Grand Cru is showing very well, wafting from the glass with notes of sweet wild berries, plums, loamy soil, peonies, raw cocoa and violets. Medium to full-bodied, rich but fine-boned, it's lively and mineral, with beautifully refined tannins and a perfumed finish. As I wrote last year, this is a Gevrey that nods to stereotypes of Chambolle in personality.

Next to Clos des Ruchottes (Rousseau). Pebbly. Quite cool and late ripening.
Very subtle already on the nose. Hint of walnuts – lift on the very solid base indeed. Very firmly anchored – really very fine. ‘Masculine’ style.

Burghound (94)

Here too there is just enough reduction to blur the nuances of what appear to be ripe fruit and floral wisps. The racy, intense and delicious middle weight flavors brim with both minerality and dry extract while displaying excellent delineation on the chiseled, focused, sneaky long and youthfully austere finale. This is firmer still, and it wouldn't surprise me if fully 20 years is necessary to resolve the supporting structure. Excellent.
