Domaine Forey Père & Fils

For 4 generations, domaine Forey Père & Fils is a domaine, situated in Vosne-Romanée (Côte d’Or). They are particularly well known because until 2002, the domaine farmed and vinified the grapes of the famous Grand Cru “La Romanée”, which is the smallest Grand Cru of Burgundy.

Their house, cellars, and some of their vineyard holdings are adjacent to the legendary “Domaine la Romanée-Conti” (DRC). The estate is currently managed by Régis Forey and from the 1980’s to present, he extended the vineyard holdings to over 9 Ha. A specialist in producing red wines almost exclusively from the Pinot Noir grape, and one of the few producers of Vosne-Romanée 1er Cru “Les Gaudichots”, which is adjacent to the famous Grand Cru Monopole “La Tâche” from DRC.

Furthermore the domaine owns parcels in two Grands Crus: “Clos de Vougeot” (0.30 Ha) and “Echézeaux” (0.38 Ha, from which he only uses 0.3 Ha for his Grand Cru) and some 1er Crus and Village wines in Nuits-St.-Georges (1er Crus“Les Saint Georges” and “Les Perrières”), Morey-St.-Denis and Vosne-Romanée (1er Cru “Les Petits Monts”and the aforementioned “Les Gaudichots”).

All the wines are aged in oak barrels. The Grands Crus and 1er Crus are aged in 80 – 100% new oak, while the Village wines receive up to 30% new oak. The use of artificially produced chemicals in the vineyards is very restricted and the wines are bottled without fining or filtration.

Exceptional recent vintages for the top wines are: 2002, 2005, 2009, 2010, 2012 and 2015.
