Deep brown in color, the 1987 Hill of Grace displays evolved fruit on the nose amid leather and dusty earth notes with some game and sandalwood hints plus a whiff of dried herbs. There is a lot going on the palate, with plenty of savory and meaty flavors to fill the mouth. It is structured by a medium-firm level of chewy tannins and bright acid before finishing long, with a pleasant herbal lift. It is mature.
One of Australia's finest red wines. Extremely ripe in flavor and plush in texture, with a great combination of fruit, spice, chocolate and tobacco. Complex, intense and satisfying, showing enough oak. Resembles a Côte-Rôtie.
