Longmorn

The Longmorn Distillery is one of the many loyal Speyside whisky distilleries. Longmorn Single Malt whisky is best described by its full-flavoured hints of oranges, sherry and nutmeg in the nose. The Longmorn 16 Years Old is one of the most popular whiskies deriving from this distillery, a whisky which is also much loved among the entry-level whisky enthusiasts. The Longmorn 1968 43 Years Old Gordon & MacPhail is one of the most sought-after collectors’ items from Longmorn, a lovely 1st fill sherry butt whisky which has received excellent reviews from numerous whisky reviewers!

The Longmorn Distillery was named after the eponymous “Longmorn Farm” which once was established on the current site of the Longmorn Distillery. In the late 19th century the Longmorn Distillery was founded by John Duff, who was also the owner and founder of the Glenlossie Distillery and the company John Duff & Co. (which later became Longmorn Distilleries Ltd.) In addition to that, John Duff established the BenRiach Distillery in 1897, but the company wasn’t as successful as needed and went bankrupt that very same year. Thereafter, none other than James R. Grant from the Glen Grant Distillery acquired the remaining shares from Longmorn Distilleries Ltd., the company that would later continue bearing the name of “The Longmorn Grants”. This change of ownership mend a lot of positive turn-arounds for the Longmorn Distillery.

The following years, Longmorn entered a prosperous era. The floor maltings were dismissed and converted into a boiling room in 1970, and the number of stills was doubled up from four to eight throughout the following decade. The Longmorn Grants later merged with The Glenlivet Distillers Ltd., until it was acquired by Pernod Ricard in 2001, which has remained full ownership of the Longmorn Distillery until today.
