Trimbach

One of the oldest French wineries is Trimbach, located in the district of Alsace in France. This Alsace winery is best known for its delicious Trimbach Riesling wine, such as the F. E. Trimbach Riesling Clos Ste Hune 1975.

The Trimbach vineyard consists mostly from Riesling vines, followed by Gewurtztraminer, Pinot Gris, Pinot Blanc and a smaller amount of other grape varieties. As the vineyards are located at the foot of the Vosges Mountains, Maison Trimbach and its vineyards are stunning picturesque images to see. The vines are provided with different types of soils, such as clay, marl, limestone and sandstone, which provides for a different irrigation of water and nutrition, resulting in a range of different grapes with different characters.

This winery produces mostly white wines and a smaller range of red wines, such as the F. E. Pinot Noir Reservé.

The premises of Trimbach were established as early as 1626, by which Trimbach is one of the oldest wineries in the French wine industry. The winery has been passed on for an astonishing thirteen generations long, by which the family managed to perfect and develop the complex taste of Trimbach. Frédéric Emile Trimbach was rewarded in 1898 with the highest value at the International Wine Fair in Brussels, by which the Trimbach wines acquired an international status. This very achievement contributed to the expansion and fame of Trimbach wine!

The winery is currently under leadership of Hubert Trimbach and his cousins Pierre (who is the business’ oenologist) and Jean (as a salesman), supported by Pierre’s daughter Anne. Jean’s son Julien recently joined the family business as the wine cellar’s administrator. With almost four centuries of experience, the family manages to continue to perfection the recipe of Trimbach wine. Maison Trimbach has remained ownership of the family ever since its establishment.
