Robert Parker (92)

The 2014 Rudeles Cerro del Cuberillo shows good ripeness and youth, but it still feels quite oaky and a little rustic. The rusticity gives it character and an authentic profile. This is very scarce, as it was produced from ancient vines that deliver very low yields. 590 bottles were filled in August 2020.

Decanter (94)

From Ribera’s less famous sub-zone, Soria, this wine is intensely fruity, with an array of complex aromas, in a more exuberant style than the wines of other zones in the appellation. Quite silky and very deep, with a warm, open and persistent finish. An original. From centenarian vines planted at 950m altitude – lots of sun exposure and high daily temperature variations are key to its distinctiveness.

BOW (8)

At an altitude of 950 meters above sea level, you find the vineyards of El Cuberillo. The vines are positioned to exploit the few months of summer and hot conditions to the max, making sure the grapes will ripe in the most optimal way. Only in stellar vintages will the Cerro el Cuberillo be released, and 2014 was certainly a good vintage

Nose: hints of wood, vanilla and black fruits such as Cassis, cherries and plums.
Taste: more spices in the flavour like laurel, also hints of tobacco and some more black fruits. There is a perfect balance between the acidity and the tannins, making this wine powerful, but not overwhelmingly.
Finish: A long silky smooth finish that keeps for well over a minute.
