Wines from Bodegas Calvo Casajus

Bodegas Calvo Casajus

Bodegas Calvo Casajús is located in the Duero valley in the northern part of Ribera del Duero. Founder José Alberto Calvo Casajús grew up in an old winemaking family, learning the craft of winemaking from an early age.

In 1993, he founded the estate, which is now 20 hectares of one of the oldest vineyards in the DO (early 18th century).

The bodegas is technologically very modern, its wines reflect Ribera del Duero and its terroir, especially that of Quintana del Pidio.

The bodegas makes 3 wines: the Casajús Antiguos Viñedos and the silky Casajús Vendimia Seleccionada resemble cru Bordeaux. The top wine the NIC, named after José's children Nicolas and Catalina, comes from a single 1.5-hectare plot and is a typical modern Ribera del Duero Tempranillo wine.
