The best wines from Pfalz

The Pfalz is situated between Rheinhessen in the north, the Haardt Mountains in the west, the Rhine River in the east, and in the south by the French region of Alsace. The Pfalz has a climate that is quite similar to that of Alsace, being one of the sunniest and driest among Germany's wine regions.

The Pfalz region is renowned for its large production of Riesling wines. The riesling wines of Pfalz have a more mellow acidity compared to Mosel Riesling wines, with aromas of peach and apricot, in stead of the more green fruit notes in Mosel riesling wines.

Pfalz also produces an array of wines from grapes like Müller-Thurgau, Pinot Grigio, Pinot Blanc, and Scheurebe. Furthermore, the Pfalz also produces red wines from the Portuguese grape and Dornfelder grapes.

However, the Pflaz is positioning itself more and more as a high quality red wine producer by creating wines from the world-renowned Spätburgunder grape.
