Domaine Jamet

Domaine Jamet can be found in the hills of the Côte Rôtie in the northern Rhône. The winery is located on a plateau known as Le Vallin. In good weather, it is possible to see Mont Blanc and the Alps from this unique place. In 1976, Jean-Paul Jamet started making wine with his father.

The vines are planted on rocky terraces and steep slopes with a base of slate and a small amount of granite. The poor rocky soil forces the vine to work hard and to put all its energy into the grapes. The grapes come from various plots with a total area of eight hectares.

For the fermentation, part of the Syrah grapes are destemmed. The bunches of the different plots are vinified separately. The red wines are aged in wooden barrels for a period ranging from 12 to 24 months. For the Côte Rôtie wines, barrels of partly new wood are used. The other red wines are aged in barrels of previous vintages. Jean-Paul also produces three white wines that are sold under the Côte du Rhône or Condrieu appellations.

Domaine Jamet makes classic wines in which elegance takes the leading role. The vinification is not aimed at producing heavy Syrah wines, but at the expression of the intense fruit. The storage potential can reach up to 30 years.

Domaine Jamet is one of the leading producers of the northern Rhone. The wines are highly sought after among enthusiasts and are among the top of what the Rhone has to offer.
