Robert Parker (91)

While analytically similar to the corresponding Gewurztraminer Rangen, the Humbrechts bottled their 2005 Gewurzrtaminer Goldert Vendange Tardive as V.T. because of its enhanced botrytis character. Rose petal, honey, black pepper, and smoked meat on the nose lead to a pungently peppery, smoky palate with roasted richness, deep carnality, undeniable site-related chalkiness, and a hint of heat from its 14.8% alcohol. Wines from this site always take their time evolving, and this is probably a 15-20 year keeper, but whether it will retain a certain roughness to go along with its roasted richness, only time can tell.

Winespectator (92)

Forward flavors of star fruit, lychee and honey are counterpointed by a pleasantly bitter orange peel note and zesty acidity. Full-bodied, with a touch of heat on the finish.
